Dr. Matthew Roberts is the chief of the Foot and Ankle Service at HSS. He is board certified and has been in practice since 2003, specializing in the repair of foot and ankle injuries, as well as the reconstruction of deformities such as bunions, hammertoes, flatfeet, and high-arched feet.

Dr. Roberts was raised in Oklahoma, Arizona and New York City, where he attended Stuyvesant High School. He spent his undergraduate years at Rice University and went on to graduate at the top of his medical school class at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 1997. Dr. Roberts returned to New York for his General Surgery Internship at Weill Cornell Medical Center and his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at HSS. He then completed a year-long fellowship in Orthopedic Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery of the Foot and Ankle at Harborview Medical Center / University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.

Dr. Roberts is currently a member of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS). He is an active member of the HSS community and participates in more than a dozen local and national committees. In recognition, he was invited to participate in the AAOS Leadership Fellows program in 2011. He received the Nancy Kane Bischoff Award for Resident Mentorship in 2019. He has numerous publications and continues to work in research and education.
