Dr. Daniel Blatz is a board certified physician in physiatry and sports medicine. He specializes in the field of orthopedics and treats all musculoskeletal conditions, which include muscle, tendon, ligament, joint, and spine issues. 

Dr. Blatz completed his residency at Northwestern in Chicago, IL and fellowship in Sports Medicine at Georgetown in Washington, DC. His goal is to keep his patients as active as possible, and to partner in their care throughout their life, working through the inevitable injuries that come with an active and fulfilling lifestyle. He strives to utilize all conservative and noninvasive methods to help his patients heal. 

Dr. Blatz is Head Team Physician coordinating care for the United States Soccer Federation's Extended National Teams, which includes the US Soccer's National Beach, National Futsal, and National Paralympic Soccer Teams. He works with athletes on a daily basis, including those in the typical sports realms, such as soccer, lacrosse, running and swimming, as well as athletes in the realm of the performing arts, such as ballet dancers, musicians, acrobats, among others.

He worked for three years as company physician for the world renowned Joffrey Ballet in Chicago, IL, as well as providing regular medical coverage for the Shakespeare Theater and Lookingglass Theater in Chicago, IL. 

He has returned to the New York, Connecticut, New Jersey Metropolitan area, where he grew up, to continue to practice and work amongst an incredible group of doctors at HSS.

Research

Dr. Blatz's research interests lie in medical education, specifically the effect of Live Simulation training to optimize residency and fellows medical coverage of sports and performing arts events. His other focus is in the realm of adaptive sports.
